Rebuilding and support after the earthquake

The earthquake on 14 July left much of two communities on the coast without a roof. Local teams confirmed the most urgent need is not rebuilding, it is clean water, food and medicine for the families staying in shelters while reconstruction is organised.

More than 300 families, counted one by one

The count takes two days. There are more people than we thought and fewer than social media claimed. With that we can build the supply list.

    Day 4

  5. Day 02

    23 July 2026

    First volunteers set off

Three local volunteers offer to go and check. We send nothing until someone sees it with their own eyes.

  6. Day 01

    22 July 2026

    Mission 002 begins

The alert reaches us from two schools in the area. We spend nearly two hours on the phone with the head teachers. What they describe is not the earthquake, it is what came after.
